Former Bayern Munich and Croatia manager Niko Kovac has been named the new Monaco boss. Robert Moreno was sacked after only seven months in charge of the Ligue 1 club on Sunday.
Kovac, 48, won the German league and cup double with Bayern in the 2018-19 season but left in November 2019. “Niko is recognised for his capacity to obtain very good results and the progression of young talents,” said Monaco vice-president Oleg Petrov. Moreno took over last December when Monaco were seventh in the table – they eventually finished ninth when the season was halted early because of the coronavirus pandemic.
