A younger brother of Tottenham player Serge Aurier has been shot dead in the French city of Toulouse, reportedly outside a night club. Christopher Aurier died in hospital after emergency services found him shot in the stomach in an industrial zone on the city’s outskirts, French media say.

Cameroon will not host the mini-tournament to decide the 2020 African Champions League winners, the country has announced. Last month, after assessing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on African football, CAF said the semi-finals and final would be played in a “Final Four” format in September.

Manchester City have successfully overturned their two-year ban from European club competitions. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced the club were cleared of “disguising equity funds as sponsorship contributions”. UEFA issued the ban in February after ruling City had committed “serious breaches” of Financial Fair Play regulations between 2012 and 2016.

World champion speed skater Lara van Ruijven, who had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, has died aged 27. The Dutch short track skater won a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Norwich City became the first club to be relegated from the English Premier League this season as Michail Antonio scored all four goals to ease West Ham’s troubles near the bottom of the table. A seventh successive league defeat left Daniel Farke’s side anchored at the foot of the table, 13 points from safety with only three games to play.

Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman retained his title with a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251 in Abu Dhabi. The emirate’s Yas Island had been transformed into ‘UFC Fight Island’, a closed-off region where four UFC events are set to be held during July.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for the remaining four games of the season with a knee injury, according to manager Jurgen Klopp. Henderson scored in the 3-1 win against Brighton on Wednesday before limping off late on in the match. Klopp said the England international should be fit again for the delayed start to the 2020-21 season.

Manchester City will learn on Monday whether their appeal against a two-year ban from European club competitions has been successful. City appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) issued the ban in February.

Incorrect penalty decisions were made by the video assistant referee in all three of Thursday’s games, the Premier League has told BBC Match of the Day. Bruno Fernandes won a spot-kick which he scored in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

American Noah Lyles briefly appeared to have set an astonishing new 200m world record of 18.90 seconds in the Inspiration Games, before it was revealed he ran only 185m. Lyles’ time would have obliterated the 19.19-second mark set by Jamaican great Usain Bolt back in 2009.

Former Ivory Coast forward Salomon Kalou has bid farewell to Hertha Berlin after six years with the German club. He been suspended since the start of May for filming himself breaking social-distancing regulations in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lazio defender Patric has been given a four-match ban and fined 10,000 euros for biting Lecce’s Giulio Donati during Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat. Patric, 27, was shown a straight red card for the offence in injury time during the Serie A game. The Spanish full-back will miss second-placed Lazio’s meeting with leaders Juventus on 20 July.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to secure Paul Pogba’s long-term future at Old Trafford. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, it had appeared that the France midfielder was set to leave United this summer. The 27-year-old World Cup winner has been linked with moves to both his former club Juventus and Real Madrid.

Barcelona kept alive their hopes of winning La Liga with a victory over Espanyol at the Nou Camp that also relegated the visitors. Both sides had a player sent off early in the second half after video assistant referee reviews.
