Juventus has been expelled by UEFA from the Europa Conference League, the third-tier European competition for the upcoming season. This decision comes as a result of a false accounting case that previously led to the deduction of 10 points from the two-time European champion in Serie A, causing them to miss out on the Champions League qualification places.
As a consequence of Juventus’ expulsion, Fiorentina will take their place in the playoffs round, which is scheduled to commence on August 24.
In addition to the expulsion, UEFA has imposed a substantial fine of 10 million euros ($11 million) on Juventus for violating the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Furthermore, the club may face an additional penalty of 10 million euros if they fail to comply with UEFA’s financial monitoring rules in the future.
While Juventus expressed regret over the ruling, the club has decided not to appeal the decision. Juventus President, Gianluca Ferrero, conveyed the club’s stance in a statement on the official website, expressing disagreement with the interpretation of their defense while affirming the legitimacy of their actions and arguments.
Nonetheless, the club is determined to move forward, focusing on the upcoming season’s challenges on the field rather than engaging in prolonged legal battles.
