Arsenal’s Maitland-Niles joins Lyon….

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: Ex-Arsenal midfielder agrees deal with Lyon - BBC Sport

Olympique Lyonnais, a prominent Ligue 1 club, has officially announced the acquisition of talented midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The signing comes after Maitland-Niles’ contract with Arsenal came to an end in June. The 25-year-old player, who boasts a remarkable track record of over 130 appearances in various competitions for his boyhood club Arsenal, has penned a four-year contract that extends until 2027.

Maitland-Niles, a highly versatile player, will be reuniting with former teammate Alexandre Lacazette as he embarks on this new chapter of his career in France. Having faced challenges in securing consistent game time with the Gunners during the 2021-22 season, Maitland-Niles temporarily joined AS Roma and Southampton on loan.

Notably, the midfielder marked his international debut for England in 2020, making a total of five appearances in that year. However, Maitland-Niles has yet to feature in Gareth Southgate’s lineup since then.

Olympique Lyonnais, eager to enhance their squad’s capabilities, has seized this opportunity to bolster their midfield with Maitland-Niles’ exceptional skills. As a top-tier Ligue 1 contender, Lyon aims to climb higher in the rankings after finishing seventh in the previous season.

Stay tuned as Ainsley Maitland-Niles takes the field for Olympique Lyonnais, contributing his prowess and experience to the team’s journey in the upcoming years.
