Nigeria have won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title three times in1980, 1994, and 2013. Nigeria also played the AFCON final games in 1984, 1988, 1990, and 2000 but lost them.
Former Nigerian captain Stephen Keshi is one of the two Africans to win the AFCON as a player and as a coach (1994 and 2013 respectively). Below are the Nigerians that have played in more than one AFCON final games. Remember, these players participated in the actual final games and not just being in the AFCON squads. These players soaked in the excitements and tensions of AFCON final games at least twice. Some were lucky to lift the cup afterwards while some were not as lucky. In all, they remain AFCON heroes. At the moment, no Nigerian has lifted the AFCON trophy twice. That could change after this final.
