Anthony Nwakaeme: Aging like Fine Wine in Football Career….

Anthony Nwakaeme was born on 21 March 1989 in Lagos. He began his professional career in Romania with Universitatea Cluj, including spells at Arieșul Turda and Petrolul Ploiești. In 2013, he moved to Israel, first joining Hapoel Ra’anana before becoming a key player at Hapoel Be’er Sheva, where he won three consecutive Israeli Premier League titles along with domestic cups and Super Cups.

In 2018, Nwakaeme joined Turkish giants Trabzonspor, enjoying great success and winning the Süper Lig, Turkish Cup, and Turkish Super Cup while becoming a fan favourite. He later moved to Saudi Arabia in 2022 to play for Al-Fayha. In 2024, Nwakaeme returned to Trabzonspor and he scored yesterday in his team’s 3:0 against Fethiyespor in a Turkish Cup game. Coming from a clime usually accused of using “Football Age”, Nwakaeme keeps pushing at top level at 37 years old like a fine aging wine.

Nwakaeme has one cap for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
