
In far away Tunisia, the Super Eagles of Nigeria won the 1994 African Cup of Nations. This would be Nigeria’s second continental title. Drawn in Group B, Nigeria deated Gabon by 2-0 in their first game before playing a 0-0 draw with Egypt in the last group game. The Super Eagles defeated Zaire (now Congo DR) by 2-0 in the quarter finals. Nigeria would go on to win Cote d’Ivoire 4-2 (penalty shoot out) in the semi finals after the game had ended 2-2 after extra time. Nigeria beat Zambia 2-1 in the final game to lift the trophy. The Super Eagles were each given MON (Member of the Order of the Niger) award and also given (or is it promised?) a house each in Abuja. The heroes are:
