Borussia Mönchengladbach and Chelsea have agreed a deal for the permanent transfer of the attacker, who has been on loan with the Fohlenelf this season. “In recent months Thorgan has shown how big a talent he is. Hazard joined Borussia on a season long loan from Chelsea at the start of the campaign. The younger brother of Chelsea star Eden Hazard started the season in great form. He scored a penalty and a stunning free kick moments after coming on in the second-leg of the Europa League play-off against FC Sarajevo. The Fohlenelf won the match 7-0. In the coming weeks he regularly came off the bench for Lucien Favre’s side and started in the cup competitions. The 21-year-old opened the scoring against Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup and scored his first Bundesliga goal in the 3-2 victory over Hertha BSC. His strong touch, dangerous set piece delivery and dribbling talent have made him a fans’ favourite. He played 24 competitive games for the club and scored four goals as well as making seven assists before Christmas. He has appeared in five of the six competitive games in 2015. His free-kick against Köln assisted Granit Xhaka’s winning goal. The attacker, who was born in La Louvière, started his career with Stade Brainois’ youth set-up. He joined Belgian second-division side AFC Tubize in summer 2003. Four years later he headed to French side RC Lens. He was promoted to their first team in summer 2011 and made his debut for the club in the French second-tier on 30th July 2011. He made 14 appearances for the club that season, which prompted Chelsea to sign him. On arrival in England he was immediately loaned to SV Zulte Waregem. In his first season in the Jupiler Pro League the then 19-year-old Hazard made 24 appearances, scoring three goals and assisting six more. He remained on loan at Zulte last season.
