Tottenham have confirmed goalkeeper Brad Friedel will retire from the game at the end of the season. The USA international turns 44 on Monday. “There really is nothing like it but my 44th birthday is here so I think it is a good time to call it a day,” he said on Twitter. Such a glorious career Brad has had.
His former clubs have been paying tribute to him on Twitter:
Aston Villa: “FAB FRIEDEL: Best wishes for the future to our former No.1 @friedel_b who is retiring at the end of the season. #AVFC.”
Blackburn Rovers: “Brad Friedel has announced his retirement from football. The keeper made 356 appearances, scoring 1 goal for Rovers.”
