Messi is going nowhere….

Lionel Messi

Manchester City have been linked with a mega-money move for Barcelona forward Lionel Messi but, if the Argentine is to be believed, the Premier League club and any other European outfit considering a move for him might as well forget about it. In an interview with France Football and picked up by Spanish newspaper Marca, the 28-year-old said: “I’d never play for another European club. “Barcelona is my home and I want to retire here. However, it’s possible I could end my career in Argentina. Anything could happen in the future, but I want to stay here.”

Infantino wants regional World Cup….

Gianni Infantino

FIFA presidential candidate Gianni Infantino says he would press for the World Cup to be held in a whole region rather than one or two countries. The UEFA general secretary has included the plan in his manifesto for the FIFA election on 26 February. His idea follows European football’s governing body UEFA’s decision to play Euro 2020 in 13 different countries. “Each confederation shall have to wait at least two editions before being able to host the World Cup again,” he said.
