They, and Atletico Madrid, had been banned from signing players for two transfer windows for breaching rules over the transfer of foreign players under 18. A Real statement read: “This award highlights the unfairness of the penalty imposed by Fifa in its day, although the club regrets that the Cas has not had enough courage to repeal it entirely.” There is no word on Atletico’s fate yet.
