Nigeria’s Goodness Nwachukwu has once again etched her name into the history books after setting a new world record in the Women’s F42/F44/F61/F64 Para Discus at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Nigerian para-athlete produced a sensational throw of 39.66 metres, breaking the world record and storming to the gold medal in a dominant display. It is yet another remarkable achievement for one of Nigeria’s finest para-athletes.

This triumph comes four years after Nwachukwu announced herself on the Commonwealth stage at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham—her first-ever Commonwealth Games appearance. On that occasion, she stunned the athletics world by winning gold and breaking the F42 world record twice in the same competition, with a best throw of 36.56 metres. That performance established her as one of the world’s leading para discus throwers.

Before her Commonwealth Games breakthrough, Nwachukwu had already shown her immense potential by setting a world record of 32.95 metres at the 2021 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Tunis. She has continued to build on that success, consistently representing Nigeria with distinction on the international stage and inspiring countless young athletes through her resilience and determination.

Her latest world record of 39.13 metres is a testament to her relentless pursuit of excellence and further cements her status among the world’s elite in para athletics.
