Some footballers are remembered for the trophies they won. Others for the players they helped produce. Jude Agada’s legacy encompasses both.

Born in 1965, Agada began playing football at an early age. As captain and Games Prefect of St. Joseph Secondary School, Awka-Etiti, he led the school to win the Idemili Local Government Cup in 1980 — a feat the school has yet to repeat.

After playing for Black Rocks and PRODA FC Enugu, Agada joined Rangers International FC Enugu in 1984. That same year, he was part of the Rangers team that won the National League, before representing the club in the African Cup of Champions Clubs.

By 1986, he had become captain of the Flying Antelopes, earning the admiration of Rangers supporters who fondly nicknamed him “Agada One Touch.” 💚

His impressive club performances earned him a call-up to Nigeria’s Green Eagles in 1987. He was part of the 1988 Seoul Olympic squad and played an important role in Nigeria’s qualification for AFCON 1990, scoring the crucial equaliser against Zimbabwe in Harare.
