Some footballers are remembered for the trophies they won. Others for the players they helped produce. Jude Agada’s legacy encompasses both.

Born in 1965, Agada began playing football at an early age. As captain and Games Prefect of St. Joseph Secondary School, Awka-Etiti, he led the school to win the Idemili Local Government Cup in 1980 — a feat the school has yet to repeat.

After playing for Black Rocks and PRODA FC Enugu, Agada joined Rangers International FC Enugu in 1984. That same year, he was part of the Rangers team that won the National League, before representing the club in the African Cup of Champions Clubs.

By 1986, he had become captain of the Flying Antelopes, earning the admiration of Rangers supporters who fondly nicknamed him “Agada One Touch.” 💚

His impressive club performances earned him a call-up to Nigeria’s Green Eagles in 1987. He was part of the 1988 Seoul Olympic squad and played an important role in Nigeria’s qualification for AFCON 1990, scoring the crucial equaliser against Zimbabwe in Harare.

In 1991, after eight years with Rangers, Agada joined Udoji United FC of Awka. In 1996, he captained the club to another National League title, his second league championship, and later represented Udoji United in the 1997 African Cup of Champions Clubs.

After nearly two decades as a professional footballer, Agada retired in 2001 — but his football journey was far from over.

In 2002, he began his coaching and talent-development career with River Lane Youth FC, Enugu. His work produced talents including Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke and Solomon Okoronkwo, who went on to represent Nigeria at the U-20 World Cup, Olympics and senior World Cup.

Another player from his development programme, Chidera Eze, progressed through Nigeria’s youth teams and was part of the squad that won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Dubai.

Agada also led River Lane to three consecutive MTN Youth Football Tournament titles from 2004–2006 and furthered his coaching education at the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Lagos, in 2007.

He later continued his talent-development work with Champs City FC and its academy programmes. Agada is currently the Assistant Coach of Abakaliki FC.

From schoolboy captain to Rangers defender, Rangers captain, Green Eagles international, league champion, coach and talent developer, Jude Agada has devoted decades to Nigerian football.

“Agada One Touch” isn’t just a name remembered by Rangers fans — it represents a football life built on talent, leadership, discipline and developing the next generation.
