* As Nigeria lose third place match….
Mali beat South Africa 2 – 0 in the final game played yesterday in Niger to clinch the 2015 African U-17 Championship trophy. Siaka Bagayoko opened scoring for Mali in the 67th minute while Aly Malle made it two nil in the 79th minute.
Guinea beat Nigeria 3 – 1 in the third place match played earlier. Victor Osimhen opened scoring for Nigeria in the 30th minute while Aboubacar Touré equalized for Guinea in the 35th minute. Abdoulaye Jules Keita scored both the 2nd and 3rd goals for Guinea in the 40th and 53rd minutes respectively.
Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen emerged the tournament’s highest goal scorer with four goals. All four countries (Mali, South Africa, Guinea and Nigeria) will represent Africa in the FIFA U-17 world cup slated for Chile later in the year.
