Warri Wolves out of CAF Confederations Cup….

Warri Wolves are out of the CAF Confederation Cup after they lost 4-3 on aggregate to AC Leopards of Congo to miss out of the group stage. The Seasiders made their work cut out after they lost 3-0 in Dolise, Congo in the first leg and all efforts to even the tie dried up after they were held to a goalless draw in the first half of the second leg tie played at the Warri City Stadium on Saturday. The Warri match ended 3 -1 in favour of Wolves. Gbolahan Salami scored twice for the Seasiders but Azubuike Egwuekwe’s own goal for the visitors halted whatever comeback Warri Wolves had in mind. Oghenekaro Etebo did score Warri Wolves’ third goal in the dying minute of the match but it only turned out to be a mere consolation as they needed two more goals at that time to nurture any hope of a place in the group stage. For the second season in a row, no Nigerian club has made it to the group stage of any CAF club competition. Sad.
