Ufa midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has been given a two-match ban by the Russian Football Union after he was sent off for raising a finger to the crowd in response to alleged racist abuse at the weekend. Spartak Moscow will not be punished as the RFU committee “didn’t find any confirmations of monkey chants so they deny racism in this case”. Following his dismissal Frimpong questioned how Russia can contemplate hosting the 2018 World Cup when racist incidents are still occurring.
