It has been quite a season in the premier league. This season is really full of surprises. Teams like Leicester and Watford have performed beyond expectations while teams like Chelsea and Newcastle have underperformed. During the season some managers have fallen by the side talking about the likes of Jose Mourinho, Brendan Rodgers and Gary Monk (sacked by Chelsea, Liverpool and Swansea respectively). These managers have been replaced by Guus Hiddink, Jurgen Klopp and Francesco Guidolin. We are yet to see the real “new manager bounce” as these teams are yet to take off as expected save for Liverpool who appeared to have gotten the initial push but the tempo has now slowed down at Anfield.

It’s been a busy week in the premier league in this January transfer window. Some deals have been closed. A lot of transfer speculations are heard. Teams are trying to re-strategize to excel. Newcastle have signed Jonjo Shelvey and Henri Saivet to help fight the relegation battle. Manchester United who have had a not too good season has called back Adnan Januzaj from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund. Steven Naismith moved from Everton to Norwich City. Liverpool have recalled Tiago Ilori from his loan spell at Aston Villa and they have also signed Steven Caulker on loan from QPR. Chelsea need to react too with a lot speculation about a deal for former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato. When all is done, it will be interesting how this season will end. A trophy for Arsenal at last? How about Leicester who are becoming serious contenders? Is it Manchester City? Really interesting.

Ours is to continue to enjoy the league with action resuming this weekend. The star match is on Sunday when Arsenal will host Chelsea. The good thing now is that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to predict a winner as the “small” teams now win the “big” teams. Whatever happens, let’s continue to have fun.
