Nigeria has qualified for both the Male and Female categories of the football event at the 2015 All Africa Games coming up in September in Brazzaville, Congo. The female team, The Super Falcons defeated their Malian counterparts 8 – 0 in the second leg match played in Abuja after in first leg ended 1 – 1 in Mali and thus qualified by 9 – 1 aggregate scoreline. Desire Oparanozie, Asisat Oshoala and Francesca Ordega all scored a brace each while Evelyn Nwabuoku and substitute Esther Sunday notched one each to make the fixture a walk in the park for the African champions.
The male team, Dream Team VI (U-23 Eagles) also beat Zambia 2 – 1 in the second leg played in Zambia after the first leg ended 0 – 0 in Abuja to qualify with 2 – 1 aggregate scoreline. Nigeria’s two goals were scored by Taiwo Awoniyi who was invited to the team after winning the Africa Youth Championship with the Flying Eagles (U-21 team) earlier in Senegal. The Super Falcons coach is Edwin Okon while that of Dream Team VI is Samson Siasia.
