Manchester United’s Chris Smalling and Alexis Sanchez have extended their loan deals at Roma and Inter Milan respectively until the end of the Italian season. England defender Smalling, 30, and Chile forward Sanchez, 31, have been playing in Serie A since August.

Africa Cup of Nations moved to 2022….

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations has been postponed to January 2022 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, while the women’s version of the tournament has been cancelled. The men’s tournament had been set to take place in January next year.

Arjen Robben plans comeback with Groningen….

Former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich attacker Arjen Robben plans to return to football with boyhood club Groningen at the age of 36. Robben retired in July 2019 after a career in which he won more than 30 club trophies. However he hopes to be back in action for the 2020-21 season to help Groningen, who have been badly affected by the suspension of football.

South Africa Premier League set to resume….

South Africa’s Premier Soccer League, which was suspended on 16 March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has been given the green light by government to resume subject to the clubs meeting stringent protocols. This follows a statement by country’s Department of Sport, Arts and Culture that it has approved the PSL’s proposed safety regulations which include testing and playing in a safe, sanitized environment.
