The International Cricket Council has readmitted Zimbabwe as a member following a three-month ban. The Catalan Football Federation has suspended all matches in the region on Monday after nine Catalan separatist leaders were jailed. Spain’s Supreme Court sentenced the leaders for sedition over their role in an independence referendum in 2017. The federation says the suspension is to show solidarity with the leaders and their families and covers all of its official football and futsal matches.
Valtteri Bottas won the Japanese Grand Prix with team-mate Lewis Hamilton third behind Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, securing a Formula 1 record sixth straight World Championship double for Mercedes. Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei eclipsed the 16-year-old women’s marathon world record held by Britain’s Paula Radcliffe as she retained her Chicago title. The 25-year-old recorded a time of two hours 14 minutes 04 seconds, easily inside Radcliffe’s mark of 2:15:25 set at the London Marathon in 2003.
