Roger Federer to play in next Summer Olympics….

Roger Federer has confirmed he intends to play in next summer’s Olympics in Tokyo as he chases an elusive gold medal in the men’s singles. The Swiss great, who turns 39 during the Games, is one of the sport’s most decorated players but he has never won the Olympic singles title.

International Cricket Council readmits Zimbabwe….

The International Cricket Council has readmitted Zimbabwe as a member following a three-month ban. Zimbabwe, who failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup, were suspended from ICC events in July because of political interference. They are now eligible to play in the men’s Under-19 World Cup in January.

Catalonia suspend football matches….

The Catalan Football Federation has suspended all matches in the region on Monday after nine Catalan separatist leaders were jailed. Spain’s Supreme Court sentenced the leaders for sedition over their role in an independence referendum in 2017. The federation says the suspension is to show solidarity with the leaders and their families and covers all of its official football and futsal matches.

Valtteri Bottas wins Japanese Grand Prix….

Valtteri Bottas won the Japanese Grand Prix with team-mate Lewis Hamilton third behind Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, securing a Formula 1 record sixth straight World Championship double for Mercedes. The result sealed the constructors’ title with four races to go and, while Hamilton is not quite world champion yet, only Bottas can catch him.
